Abigail McCarrel, LCSW DCSW & Owner of Welcome Home Family Therapy
Gina Kanagawa is a therapist and parent coach with a big, beautiful heart. She has taken a deep dive in her professional life to study and incorporate the latest science of the brain and relationships into her work with families and children. I have known of Gina’s work through a mutual year-long intensive training geared to bring the most relevant neuroscience into the therapy and coaching relationships. All this to say, Gina knows what really works to address the most challenging behaviors in the family and make family life more peaceful. She teaches hands-on parenting strategies that change the way parents look at their children, bringing more safety and compassion into the parent-child relationship. With increased trust, problems are more easily solved and behaviors that parents want to see more of start to show up. I am beyond confident that Gina can help struggling parents feel more confident and more closely live out their values in the way they learn to be with their children.
If you are struggling as a parent, do not wait another moment. Reach out and connect with Gina!

I am in-network with PacificSource and can bill out-of-network if you have this type of coverage for mental health services through a different insurance company.
PLEASE NOTE: If you use insurance to pay for mental health services, I must give you a diagnosis. Insurance companies require a diagnosis to determine medical necessity for treatment. In many cases, mental health diagnoses do not have a statute of limitations, meaning they can remain on your health record permanently. This information is provided here to hopefully assist you in making the decision that makes the most sense for yourself, or your loved ones.

If the cost of counseling is a barrier to you, I have a limited number of sliding scale/reduced fee spots available. Please reach out to me with any questions.

For those who would like to use their out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a “superbill” that you may send to your insurance or HSA account for reimbursement.
Superbill Process by Steps:
All payments are made by the client in full at the time of service.
Client requests a superbill from the therapist.
The client then submits the superbill to the insurance company, and the company will reimburse the client directly based upon the client’s specific benefits, and coverage plan.
Please be aware that I am required to put your diagnosis on the superbill to demonstrate medical necessity for treatment. Insurance can reimburse from 20-80% and sometimes 100% of the cost, depending on your particular plan’s out-of-network benefits.
QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN YOU CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
Is there a deductible?
Are out-of-network claims reimbursed in full? Or, what percentage of a bill for out-of-network services will I be reimbursed?
How long can I expect to wait to receive the reimbursement for a submitted claim?
Where do I send the superbill when I receive it from my provider?
